Haruka Yashirodōri
Haruka Yashirodōri (八代通 遥, Yashirodōri Haruka) is a research scientist and director of the Special Technology Research Office in the JASDF who researches and reverse engineers Xi technology such as the android technology called anima, HiMAT (Highly Maneuverable Aircraft Technology), and EPCM (Electronic Perceptory Countermeasures) technology and countermeasures. His office is based at the Japan Air Self-Defence Force Komatsu Base (小松基地 Komatsu Kichi). He is an avid smoker and dislikes not being able to solve problems. He and William Shankle were graduate students in the same lab implying that he's also a computer scientist, though his expertise seems to be multidisciplinary extending into neurobiology, and possibly other biological disciplines.

- The name Haruka means "distant, remote" (遥).
- Haruka's surname Yashirodōri means "eight" (八) (ya), "generation" (代) (shiro) and "connoisseur, counter for letters" (通) (dōri).
